Prosecutors say the brutal attack, captured on video, left a fellow teen detainee nonverbal, on a feeding tube, and with a traumatic brain injury. The case highlights serious violence inside the Joliet youth facility and the long-term impact on the victim.
   

2. Joliet's Spokeswoman Explains Absence Of Public Nuisances During 2023, 2024 And 2025 (patch.com) — If you've wondered why Joliet's public nuisance crackdowns seemed to disappear, city officials now say staffing changes and an expanded rental inspection program shifted resources between 2023 and 2025. With operations stabilizing, three long-troubled properties on Cottage Place, North Hickory Street and 3rd Avenue have just been declared public nuisances. Neighbors may see more such Joliet cases as code enforcement ramps back up.

AFSCME Local 440 Files Grievance Against Joliet City Hall Over Rock Run Collection Construction (patch.com) — City of Joliet employees in AFSCME Local 440 have filed a grievance over Rock Run Collection construction inspections, challenging the city's use of outside contractors instead of union staff. While the city says the grievance is no longer being pursued, documents show it still in Stage 2, even as new businesses like DICK's House of Sport and more restaurants continue reshaping Joliet's I-55 corridor.

Judge allows lawsuit accusing Joliet council member of attacking man at bar to move ahead (shawlocal.com) — A Will County judge has allowed a civil lawsuit to proceed that accuses Joliet City Council member Joe Clement and others of injuring a man during an incident at Andy & Sophie's bar on Hickory Street. Clement denies the allegations, the case could take years to reach trial, and Illinois State Police are still investigating at Joliet police's request because of a potential conflict of interest.
