Shots Fired On Joliet's Mills Road, Drive-By Shooting Victim, 20, Driven To Silver Cross Hospital

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department is off to a slow start in trying to solve Friday morning's drive-by shooting on Mills Road, all because the shooting victim apparently does not want to help the detectives solve the crime and capture the gunman responsible for firing bullets into his body.

According to Friday's press release from police spokesman Dwayne English, at 10:17 a.m., the officers responded to the
600 block of Mills Road for a report of shots fired.

"At this time, it is believed that gunfire had been exchanged between the occupants of a sedan and a sport utility vehicle while both vehicles were traveling in the area," English announced.

He said the officers conducted a canvass of the scene and recovered guns believed to be connected to the incident.

During the investigation, officers learned that a 20-year-old man had arrived at Silver Cross Hospital by private vehicle suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the left arm.

"The victim was uncooperative with investigators and refused to provide information regarding the incident," English pointed out.
