Old Ethnic Eatery Near La Grange Still Empty

BROOKFIELD, IL – An old Serbian restaurant on Ogden Avenue in Brookfield closed a few months ago.

For about a decade, Skadarliya was at 9237 Ogden Ave., across from the Colony Motel.

Over the weekend, commenters on Nextdoor's website noted the empty building and wondered what happened to Skadarliya.

In May, the Serbian Times wrote about Skadarliya's closure, calling it the "most famous Balkan restaurant in Chicago."

The restaurant's owner, Nenad Bojkovski, told the publication, "We are going into history. It’s time for retirement. Thank you to all our guests and friends."
