Oak Lawn Police Fourth Of July Traffic Enforcement Yields 327 Seat Belt Violations

Oak Lawn police released numbers from the 2026 Fourth of July traffic enforcement campaign.

OAK LAWN, IL—Get your pencils and scorecards ready! The Oak Lawn Police Department issued 327 seat belt citations during the recent Fourth of July Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket safety campaigns.

Seat belt citations saw a decrease from last year’s 378 seat belt citations written during the same period. Oak Lawn police also issued:

  • 19 child safety seat citations
  • 05 speeding citations
  • 02 distracted driving citations
  • 30 other citations, including vehicle equipment and traffic violations.

Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this statewide effort to get drunk and drugged drivers off our roads and encourage seat belt use.

Oak Lawn police joined forces with more than 200 other state and local law enforcement agencies conducting the crackdown, which featured high-visibility enforcement combined with various outreach activities, including a media campaign.
