Cement truck kills 71-year-old woman in Oak Park crash – [your]NEWS (yournews.com) — A 71-year-old Oak Park woman died after being struck by a cement truck Wednesday morning while crossing at North Boulevard and Euclid Avenue, near the Oak Park Avenue streetscape project. Police say the driver, working for a concrete supplier on that project, stayed at the scene and cooperated as Euclid was closed for hours during the investigation.
   

2. Future Remains Uncertain for Two Chicago-Area Safety-Net Hospitals Under New Ownership (wttw.com) — West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park has been bought by Insight Health Systems, but its reopening as a safety-net hospital is far from guaranteed. Community advocates and state leaders are wrestling with severe funding cuts, failing infrastructure, and looming license issues that could delay even partial services like the ER until at least January, leaving local patients and workers in limbo.
   

3. Girls golf: Han's 72 helps Hinsdale Central defend West Suburban Conference crown (dailyherald.com) — Oak Park's girls golf team made a strong showing at the West Suburban Conference meet, with Oak Park's Nadia Vattana taking third individually with a 78. Hinsdale Central defended its conference title behind medalist Sara Han, while Oak Park finished just a stroke ahead of Glenbard West in a tightly packed team leaderboard on a wet, windy day.
   

4. Prayer and protest one year after Broadview Six (oakpark.com) — Oak Park residents and village trustees joined a prayerful protest outside the Broadview ICE detention center, marking one year since the "Broadview Six" arrests and case dismissal. With a new court hearing set for Oct. 1 and a candlelight vigil planned tonight at the detention center, local advocates are pressing for accountability, safer conditions, and an end to what they see as intimidating immigration enforcement tactics.
