Review of Wallace shooting shifts to state's attorney (oakpark.com) — State police have finished investigating the May 31 officer-involved shooting that killed Christian Wallace in Oak Park, and the case is now with the Cook County State's Attorney for review. Village officials say they will not comment further while prosecutors decide on possible charges, after already releasing video of the stop and tightening local traffic-stop policies this summer.

Community news: Hospital scholarships, Oak Park bulb sale, La Grange arts fest and more (chicagotribune.com) — Gardeners in Oak Park can now order homegrown fall mums online from the Oak Park Conservatory, with in-person sales starting Sept. 18 at its Garfield Street location, along with a variety of fall bulbs. The roundup also highlights nearby scholarships, nature fundraisers, arts festivals, and health walks in surrounding suburbs, offering several ways to get involved this month.
   

5. Oak Park-based Music and Potlucks helps fight hunger through folk songs (chicagotribune.com) — An Oak Park- and River Forest-based nonprofit, Music & Potlucks, is using folk music performances to collect food and donations for local groups like Beyond Hunger in Oak Park. Since 2017, the volunteer-run group has raised over $50,000 and thousands of meals through concerts, jams, and grants, while also offering welcoming monthly folk jam sessions for families in nearby communities.
