• New Photos Released Of Soon-To-Open Plainfield Woodman's (patch.com) — Plainfield residents are getting a first look at the massive new Woodman's grocery store set to open early this fall at Route 59 and 119th Street. The 240,000-square-foot, employee-owned store will be larger than a Costco, open 24/7, and include a gas station and oil change center, with additional outlots planned for future development. Woodman's is currently hiring and conducting on-site job interviews this week.
   

• Applications Open To Join Plainfield District 202's HC Parade (wjol.com) — Plainfield District 202 is now accepting applications to join its Sept. 26 Homecoming Parade, themed "Road Trip" in honor of Route 66 running through downtown Plainfield. Local groups can enter for a $50 fee, decorate floats to match the travel theme, and must follow detailed safety and lineup rules for the 74th annual event.
   

• James Edward McLachlan, 71, of Plainfield (1430wcmy.com) — Plainfield is mourning the passing of 71-year-old resident James Edward McLachlan, a lifelong Illinois farmer and devoted husband known for his love of travel and the outdoors. Family and friends can pay respects Friday morning in Ottawa, with visitation, Mass at St. Columba Church, and burial at St. Columba Cemetery.
