Car Falls On, Kills Dealership Employee In Skokie: Report (patch.com) — Residents may be shaken after a 33-year-old employee was killed when a car fell on him at Midwest Autohaus on Dempster Street in Skokie. Police and firefighters responded Thursday night, pronounced him dead at the scene, and say they do not suspect foul play.
   

2. 200+ Cited, 3 Arrested During Speeding Crackdown In Skokie (patch.com) — Skokie drivers are learning the results of a July 2026 speeding crackdown that brought three arrests and nearly 100 speeding tickets, plus dozens more citations for seat belts, insurance, and distracted driving. The Skokie Police Department joined state and local partners in the federally funded campaign, administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
   

3. Skokie Police Outline Flock Camera Use, Limits At Village Meeting (patch.com) — Skokie police leaders recently walked village officials and residents through how the department uses its 27 automated license plate reader and traffic cameras, stressing strict limits, audits, and Illinois-only data sharing. 5. $1B Retail Investment Push, Whole Foods' Daily Shop Growth, Blue Elephant's U.S. Debut, the New Anchor Mix, Mall Entertainment and More (icsc.com) — A major Skokie shopping destination just changed hands, with Nuveen selling the Village Crossing power center to Fairbourne Properties for $122 million in one of the Chicago area's biggest recent retail deals. The 720,000-plus-square-foot complex, home to anchors like Dick's Sporting Goods, Best Buy, AMC Theatres and PetSmart, remains a key retail hub for Skokie-area shoppers.
