• Rabid Bat Found In Kane County For First Time Since 2024 (patch.com) — Health officials are warning St. Charles-area residents after a bat found in an unincorporated St. Charles backyard on Aug. 16 tested positive for rabies, the first such case in Kane County since 2024. Locals are urged to ensure pets' rabies vaccinations are current, avoid handling bats, and contact a medical provider or the Kane County Health Department immediately if they may have been exposed.
   

• Pheasant Run Redevelopment Plan Rejected By St. Charles Committee (patch.com) — St. Charles residents are watching closely as the City Council's Committee of the Whole rejected the latest plan to redevelop the former Pheasant Run Resort site into a car-oriented retail center. While the proposal for The Shops at Pheasant Run has been turned back over design and traffic concerns, officials say the developer could return with a revised plan for the long-troubled property.
