• Rabid bat confirmed in unincorporated St. Charles (thevoice.us) — Health officials have confirmed a rabid bat found in an unincorporated St. Charles backyard, marking Kane County's first rabid bat since 2024. Residents are urged to seek medical advice after any possible bat exposure and to keep pets' rabies vaccinations current while avoiding contact with bats or other wild animals.
   

• Suburban woman who killed 2 in drunken crash sentenced to 8 years (wgntv.com) — From the courthouse in St. Charles, a Batavia woman has been sentenced to eight years in prison for a 2023 drunk-driving crash on Bliss Road that killed two people. Prosecutors had sought 18 years after evidence showed a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit and open alcohol in her vehicle.
