• Hike Lake County highlights local history (shawlocal.com) — Lake County's annual Hike Lake County program is back through November 30, and one of this year's featured routes is the 1.9-mile Half Day trail in Vernon Hills. Complete at least seven of the 12 designated hikes to earn a commemorative medallion, with options to include your dogs and submit travel logs online or by mail for your rewards.
