Driver arrested in Evansville hit-and-run that injured teen, police say (14news.com) — Evansville police say a man has been jailed after a hit-and-run at Pollack and South Weinbach that injured a teenage pedestrian Tuesday evening. The girl reported leg pain and was taken to the hospital, and officers say the driver first denied involvement before admitting he fled because he was scared and had a suspended license.
   

2. Deaconess to Open 24-Hour ER/Urgent Care (wnin.org) — A new 24/7 Deaconess Emergency & Urgent Care center is coming soon to North Green River Road in Evansville, offering both emergency and urgent care under one roof. The 19,000-square-foot facility will feature on-site lab services, imaging, and a CT scanner, and anchors a larger medical complex that will expand local outpatient options while Deaconess Clinic Lynch remains open nearby.
   

3. Community invited to celebrate Honor Flight veterans returning to Evansville Saturday (14news.com) — More than 80 local veterans will fly out of Evansville Regional Airport on Honor Flight 21 this Saturday for a free day visiting Washington, D.C. war memorials. They'll return that evening to a Welcome Home Parade at the airport, and organizers are urging Evansville residents to arrive early with flags, signs, and friends to cheer them on.
   

4. EVSC Options Fair Highlights Specialty Programs (my1053wjlt.com) — Evansville families can explore specialized EVSC programs at the 2026 Options Fair on Thursday, October 22, from 5 to 7:45 p.m. at the Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center. With booths and presentations on academies, career and technical training, virtual learning, and more, it's a key chance for local 8th graders to match their interests with high school pathways.
   

5. Phoenix International Sponsors 2026 HNSA Symposium in Evansville (news-usa.today) — Evansville just hosted the 2026 Historic Naval Ships Association Symposium aboard the LST 325, drawing museum professionals and volunteers from across the country. Phoenix International's sponsorship helped spotlight the ship's role as a living World War II museum and underscored how community support and technical expertise keep historic naval vessels—and their tourism and educational benefits—afloat here.
