• CenturyLink not ending landline service in Lee County — yet (mississippivalleypublishing.com) — CenturyLink plans to shut down traditional landline service in several Iowa communities, including Johnston, starting October 18, as it moves customers to newer technologies. While Fort Madison is spared for now, Johnston residents relying on copper phone lines should prepare to switch to options like CenturyLink's Connected Voice with Air-Line or other providers to maintain home phone and 911 access.
