Decades-long dream becomes reality as Bowling Green veterans center opens (wnky.com) — A long-sought state veterans nursing home has finally opened in Bowling Green, bringing 60 beds, modern rehab services, and more than 150 new jobs to south-central Kentucky. Local and state leaders say the Robert E. Spiller Bowling Green Veterans Center will give area veterans and families high-quality care close to home, after years of driving to Nashville for services.
   

2. Gov. Beshear Orders Flags to Half-Staff Sunday in Honor of Kentucky State Trooper; Funeral Service to be held Sunday (wvlc.com) — Bowling Green residents are being asked to honor Kentucky State Police Trooper Hayden Phillips, who was killed during a traffic stop in the city, as flags statewide will fly at half-staff this Sunday. His funeral will be held at WKU's E.A. Diddle Arena at noon, with the governor urging continued prayers and donations to support his wife and three children.
   

3. From golf to grapes (kentuckyliving.com) — Purple Toad Winery has opened a new tasting room and event venue in Bowling Green, tying into the owner's family roots and boosting local tourism. Working with Warren RECC, they prepared the site's electrical needs and hope to showcase Kentucky-made wines as part of the region's growing agriculture and tourism economy.
   

4. Houchens Industries Small Business Accelerator cuts ribbon on building (wnky.com) — Bowling Green's Houchens Industries Small Business Accelerator is giving local startups affordable space and support to grow into full-fledged storefronts. From restaurants to a barbershop and a play zone, entrepreneurs say the College Street facility has turned side projects into thriving businesses and opened doors for many first-time owners.
   

5. Gena Leigh Gerbo-Simpson, 64, of Bowling Green (wkdzradio.com) — Bowling Green residents are mourning the passing of 64-year-old Gena Leigh Gerbo-Simpson, a longtime nursing aide and former PizzAroma employee, who died Friday at her home. Family and friends can honor her life at a Celebration of Life service this Friday in Elkton, and are encouraged to support Boy Scouts Troop 705 in Bowling Green in her memory.
