Lexington man charged after allegedly pointing laser at rescue helicopter, KSP says (fox56news.com) — Kentucky State Police say a Lexington man was arrested after allegedly pointing a laser at a KSP helicopter while riding a moped near West Loudon Avenue and North Broadway. Officers report he admitted shining the laser, then tried to discard it and his backpack before being caught. He now faces multiple charges and is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

Catholic Action Center surveys Lexington's homeless population for fourth year (wkyt.com) — More than 70 volunteers fanned out across Lexington this week to survey people experiencing homelessness, aiming to understand not just how many are unhoused but why. Organizers say the growing trust built over four years leads to better data, which will be shared publicly by late September to help shape local responses.

Lexington health department reaches 1,000 free gun locks distributed (lex18.com) — Free gun locks are now available at multiple locations across Lexington through the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department's "Let's Lock It Lex" program, which has already handed out 1,000 locks and ordered 3,000 more. Recovery coaches at Voices of Hope in Lexington turn their own struggles into help for others (lex18.com) — Lexington's Voices of Hope is using recovery coaches with lived experience to guide neighbors battling addiction, even as Kentucky's overdose deaths declined in 2025. Coaches are meeting people where they are, from helping with IDs and housing to running the MORE van in Cardinal Valley, with bilingual support for Hispanic and Latino residents.
