Beshear Provides Team Kentucky Update 9/17 (ridingthewave.com) — Louisville is gaining 122 new jobs as Medvantx opens an expanded, high-capacity prescription distribution facility in the city, backed by a nearly $27 million investment. Gov. Andy Beshear's latest update also highlights Louisville native and MLB star Will Smith as a Team Kentucky All-Star, alongside statewide initiatives on medical debt relief, clean water, workforce training, and support for HBCUs and childhood cancer research.
   

2. Louisville Metro Council moves to fund bus stop lighting after string of student deaths (wave3.com) — Louisville Metro Council's Budget Committee has voted to redirect $100,000 toward adding lighting at Jefferson County Public Schools bus stops, with full council approval expected soon. After JCPS and partners mapped thousands of stops, more than 1,000 were found to lack lighting, prompting this push to reduce shootings and pedestrian deaths where students wait in the dark.
   

3. Final Barret Avenue redesign in Louisville cuts travel lanes, adds 2-way bike facility (wave3.com) — Barret Avenue in Louisville is about to lose two driving lanes in sections and gain a protected two-way bike facility, with work starting next Thursday and wrapping up by November. The eight-block redesign from East Broadway to Rufer Avenue aims to slow traffic, improve safety, and make it easier to walk, bike, and visit Highlands-area businesses.
   

4. ANTHRAX Releases Music Video For 'Cursum Perficio' Album Title Track (sonicperspectives.com) — Louisville metal fans can meet Anthrax at a late-night in-store signing at Guestroom Records on Bardstown Road, starting just after midnight on Sept. 18. The appearance celebrates the release of their new album "Cursum Perficio," which arrives today with multiple special vinyl editions for collectors and longtime fans.
   

5. Sabaton releases new version of 'Templars' with Pop Evil frontman Leigh Kakaty (themusicuniverse.com) — A massive crowd at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville just saw Swedish metal band Sabaton debut a new version of their song "Templars" with Pop Evil singer Leigh Kakaty, ahead of a big North American tour. The collaboration blends their styles, builds on Sabaton's recent gaming tie-ins, and showcases Louisville as a stop for major rock events.
