Metro United Way is using ALICE cost-of-living data to better target assistance, while local labor experts warn that wage gains in the Louisville area are being erased by inflation. Residents needing help can call 2-1-1 for local resources.
   

2. Shively police, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office team up to curb dangerous driving (wlky.com) — Louisville-area drivers are seeing stepped-up patrols as Shively police and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office target speeding and distracted driving on Dixie Highway and nearby streets. Working with all 26 Louisville Metro Council members, deputies are focusing on resident-reported trouble spots to cut crashes, issuing hundreds of citations while urging drivers to slow down.

The nonprofit, based in Louisville, relies on community donations to fund projects that protect drinking water, recreation, and local waterways, and is also planning a statewide summit to coordinate conservation efforts.
   

4. Between the Buried and Me Share 'Psychomanteum' Live Video (antimusic.com) — Between the Buried and Me are releasing a new live video while also gearing up for a stop at the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville on September 20. Louisville family who had son through IVF starts non-profit to help others do the same (wave3.com) — A Louisville couple who welcomed their son through IVF has launched a nonprofit, Footprints of Hope, to help other families afford fertility treatments. Founder Matthew Thomas, a quadriplegic, plans to offer application-based grants and partner with Kentucky fertility clinics, while also working to normalize non-traditional paths to parenthood in the Louisville community.
