Bray announces creation of Department of Community Development (westkentuckystar.com) — Paducah is creating a new Department of Community Development that will pull planning, code enforcement, inspections, and the development liaison into one easily accessible City Hall office. Mayor George Bray says the reorganization, using existing staff, aims to streamline services for residents and businesses as local development and growth accelerate. 
2. Paducah man charged with taking money for work not done (westkentuckystar.com) — Paducah Police have charged a local man after customers said they paid tens of thousands of dollars for cabinets and flooring through Hometown Decorating but never received the work. Investigators estimate about $45,300 in undelivered goods and services, and the business has since closed. Police believe more victims may be out there and are urging them to contact Paducah Police.
3. Kentucky PSC to hold public comment meetings on Bluegrass Water's rate increase application (wkms.org) — Paducah residents served by Bluegrass Water face steep proposed increases in sewer and water bills, and the Kentucky PSC will take public comments at a Sept. 2 meeting at the McCracken County Courthouse. The utility says higher rates are needed to fund system upgrades, while more than 200 Kentuckians have already filed objections over affordability concerns.
4. Paducah Police Deflection Team highlights work helping homeless woman find housing - KBSI FOX23 News Cape Girardeau News (kbsi23.com) — Paducah's Police Department is spotlighting how its Deflection Team helped an elderly homeless woman move from living on an abandoned building's steps into stable housing. Officers spent months building trust, providing basics, and securing IDs before partnering with state housing resources. The story underscores a growing focus on connecting Paducah residents to services beyond traditional policing.
5. Four uranium enrichment companies detail U.S. capacity expansion plans at ANS Global 2026 conference (energiesmedia.com) — Paducah's former gaseous diffusion plant is poised for a major comeback, with two private companies planning new uranium enrichment facilities that could reestablish the city as a national fuel hub. At a global nuclear conference, four firms detailed concrete U.S. expansion plans, but Paducah stood out as the only site hosting two separate enrichment ventures.
