Chlorine leak at LUS Water Treatment Plant in Lafayette (klfy.com) ā A small chlorine leak at the LUS Water Treatment Plant on Commission Boulevard in Lafayette triggered alarms Friday morning, but all employees evacuated safely and no injuries were reported. Lafayette Fire Department and the Haz-Mat team traced the problem to a malfunctioning valve, sealed the leak inside an enclosed room, and confirmed the facility is safe. Residentsā water service was not reported as affected.

Lafayette moves to make backyard chicken ordinance permanent (prismnews.com) ā Lafayette residents who keep backyard chickens are waiting to see if the city council will remove the sunset clause and make the trial chicken ordinance permanent. With 45 permits already issued and Animal Control tracking complaints, the decision will determine whether small flocks remain a stable, long-term option inside city limits. Ā Ā Ā

Scott Community Fridge Opens to Help Families Facing Rising Food Costs (kpel965.com) ā A new Scott Community Fridge, launched by Foodies of Lafayette and local volunteers, is now helping Acadiana families struggling with rising grocery costs. Powered by the Lafayette Community Fridge network, the project urgently needs volunteer drivers to pick up food from restaurants like Rascalās Cajun Restaurant and Lagneauxās Seafood and deliver it to fridges in Scott, Lafayette, and Abbeville. - I have a cat at our warehouse that we feed and shelter if the elements are bad outside and he has a huge gash near his tail that needs emergency help.
I have called SPCA and there is no vet on site today and I am starting to call around to other vets but everyone is booked. Seeing if anyone knows aā¦ (Nextdoor Lafittes Landing) - There are so many scammer phone calls, so beware.
