The public is invited to meet up with authors, writers, and hopefuls. 
The Writer’s Guild of Acadiana is a non-profit corporation organized in 1986 and operates to provide support and encouragement to its members:
<ul><li>Development of artistic and technical literary skills</li><li>Stimulating interest and appreciation for the art of writing</li><li>Encouraging free exchange among those engaged in literary endeavors</li><li>Disseminate information concerning activities in the field of writing.</li><li>Sign up for our monthly newsletter,&nbsp;“La Plume,” which will be emailed. It contains valuable information about tips on writing, upcoming events, workshops, and WGA news.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>

​Meetings are open to the public, and typically held at the South Regional Branch of the Library, 6101 Johnston, Laf, LA.&nbsp;&nbsp;Our agenda usually features a guest speaker one month and a member reading program the next month. We start at 6 p.m. and usually end around 7:30 p.m.&nbsp;
Guests are encouraged.&nbsp;Find a seat, relax, and prepare for an interesting and motivational night. Our monthly speakers come in various categories: published authors, illustrators, poets, historians, children’s authors, motivational speakers, travel writers, bloggers, writers of memoirs, and more.
