Essence responds to New Orleans' demands (nola.com) — New Orleans officials are pressuring Essence Festival's parent company as its contract with the city expires Sept. 4, questioning unpaid bills, vendor payments, and demanding more transparency before approving new incentives. Essence leaders say they want to stay in New Orleans long term, highlighting jobs, tax revenue, and hotel occupancy while city leaders weigh whether to invite competing festivals for the July 4th weekend slot.

SWBNO to cover tree removal, property restoration after Lake Terrace leak (wwltv.com) — New Orleans' Sewerage and Water Board will pay to remove a fallen tree and restore a Lake Terrace property damaged during repairs to a leaking water main on Killdeer Street. Crews have stopped the leak, restored water service, and are installing a new pipe, with full site repairs expected by early to mid-next week, weather permitting.
