• Krewe of Sobek crowns new king and queen for 24th season (westcentralsbest.com) — Shreveport's Krewe of Sobek has kicked off its 24th Mardi Gras season at Bally's North Casino and Hotel, crowning Brian and Crystal White as the new king and queen. With the '24 Karat Gold' theme now unveiled, members will spend the coming months preparing parades and celebrations that help anchor the city's Carnival festivities.
   

• Shreveport police searching for two people wanted for questioning in deadly gas station shooting (ksla.com) — Shreveport police are asking residents to help identify two people and a vehicle connected to Saturday's deadly shooting at the Shell station at 4000 Jewella Avenue. Two men were shot and one later died, and investigators believe the unidentified individuals have crucial information. Anyone who recognizes them is urged to contact Shreveport Police or Shreveport-Caddo Crime Stoppers.
   

• Notice of Death – September 13, 2026 (shreveportbossierjournal.com) — Families across the Shreveport-Bossier area are announcing the recent passing of several loved ones, with services scheduled at Shreveport funeral homes, churches, and the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery. Dates range from today through late October, giving friends and neighbors time to plan visits or send condolences. The Shreveport-Bossier Journal also notes it offers paid obituary placements.
