2. Mold, mushrooms in Baltimore homeless hotel: Where did maintenance money go? (foxbaltimore.com) — Baltimore spent about $6 million on a contractor to maintain two downtown hotels used as homeless shelters, yet an inspector general report found mold, water damage, and even mushrooms growing from carpets. Baltimore Mayor Scott defends clash with inspector general over access to city records (cbsnews.com) — Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott is locked in a court battle with Inspector General Isabel Cumming over how much access her office should have to city records and servers. Recent rulings have gone against the city, as Scott criticizes what he calls overly broad subpoenas while Cumming argues she needs full access to investigate programs like MONSE without interference.
   

4. Baltimore schools CEO talks absenteeism, family involvement (wbaltv.com) — Baltimore families just met new city schools CEO Jermaine Dawson at Furley Elementary to press for better communication, more after‑school programs, and solutions to chronic absenteeism. Dawson highlighted recent gains in attendance, pledged deeper partnerships with housing and faith groups, and responded to Baltimore Teachers Union concerns about limited planning time as his listening tour continues this month.
   

5. Mayor Scott vows 'full wrath' after City housing oversight questioned in neglect case (foxbaltimore.com) — Baltimore officials are under pressure after six children were allegedly found living alone in unsafe conditions in an East Monument Street rental that city housing staff helped secure just months ago. Mayor Brandon Scott condemned the situation, promised consequences for any officials who failed to act, and said the city will scrutinize both housing department oversight and the landlord's role.
