Person Carrying Suspected Sword Alarms Bel Air Residents
Residents have posted on social media about a person carrying a sword; however, the police department stated it is not a real weapon.
BEL AIR, MD — The police department confirmed that it is aware of a social media post made by a local group about an individual reportedly seen carrying what appeared to be a sword.
The individual has been identified, the police department said, and officers are familiar with the person due to prior incidents.
However, police officers stated that the item is not a real weapon.

"Officers have also attempted to connect him with appropriate resources due to apparent behavioral health concerns. We understand why this type of post may cause concern in the community, and we thank those who brought it to our attention. The Bel Air Police Department will continue to monitor the situation and take appropriate action when necessary," the police department stated.
Bel Air Police encouraged residents that if they see suspicious or concerning behavior, they should contact the Bel Air Police Department directly at 410-638-4500, or call 911 if there is an immediate threat or emergency.
