16-Year-Olds Charged With Murder In Teen's Shooting
Two 16-year-olds from Mount Rainier have been charged as adults with murder in the shooting death of another 16-year-old
BRENTWOOD, MD — Two 16-year-olds have been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Ruben Arevalo Saavedra of Hyattsville.
On June 12 at approximately 4:55 p.m., Prince George's police officer were called to the 3700 block of Shepherd Street for a report of a shooting. Officers located Saavedra outside with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects shot the victim in connection to an ongoing dispute. The victim and suspects knew each other.

On Thursday, the PGPD’s Fugitive Unit, which is part of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, arrested the suspects.
The teens, from Mount Rainier, have been charged as adults with first- and second-degree murder and related offenses. They are in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
