Father Charged With Murder In 13-Month-Old's Death: Prince George's Police

TEMPLE HILLS, MD — A father has been charged in the death of his 13-month-old baby.

Around 11:15 p.m. on Sept. 18, Prince George's police officers were called to the family's home, located in the 3200 block of Curtis Drive.

When officers arrived, they found the baby, Kyro Strachan, unresponsive and not breathing. Life-saving measures were immediately rendered, and the baby was rushed to the hospital, where he died, according to police.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma and the manner of death a homicide.

During an interview with the father, 26-year-old Alwin Strachan of Temple Hills, he told homicide unit detectives "of his involvement in injuring the baby, resulting in his death," the police department stated.

Strachan has been charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and child abuse resulting in death. He has been taken to the Department of Corrections.
