Passenger Dies After Car Crashes Into Light Pole Near Landover

LANDOVER, MD — Detectives are investigating a fatal crash that happened Friday morning in Landover.

Around 2:30 a.m., Prince George's County police officers were called to the area of Landover Road and Kent Town Drive for a report of a single-vehicle crash. They found a passenger in the road who had been ejected from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene but hasn't yet been identified by police so that his family can be notified first, according to police.

The driver and three additional passengers were taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was heading southbound on Landover Road when, for reasons now being investigated, the driver lost control and hit a light pole.
