• 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony Honors 4 Howard Co. Residents, Other Victims (patch.com) — Howard County will hold its annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Centennial Park's Garden of Hope, honoring four local residents killed in the attacks, including Columbia teacher Sarah M. Clark. The event, marking the 25th anniversary, features a wreath-laying and tributes with County Executive Calvin Ball and public safety leaders participating. Residents are invited to attend the morning ceremony on Sept. 11.
   

• 27-year-old accused in 2 robberies and occupied-home burglary in Northeast DC (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A 27-year-old man from Columbia has been charged in connection with two robberies and an occupied-home burglary in Northeast DC, after an arrest tied to an August 13 robbery. Police say he's accused of threatening to shoot a witness during a July 28 burglary, and emphasize he remains presumed innocent until proven guilty.
   

• 1940s Helicopter Design Beats Futuristic Drones to Win DARPA Lift Challenge (sofx.com) — A Columbia company, AVIDrone Inc., won DARPA's Lift Challenge with its Katana heavy-lift drone, which used a classic helicopter-style rotor to outperform more futuristic designs. The aircraft carried over 112 pounds and achieved a 3.84-to-1 payload-to-weight ratio, earning the team $1.25 million and national recognition in advanced drone technology.
