• Six-figure Powerball luck lands at Hyattsville Giant (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A Powerball ticket sold at the Giant Food on Eastern Avenue in Hyattsville just hit for $100,000 after a $1 Power Play doubled the prize. The winning ticket, which matched four white balls plus the Powerball, hasn't been claimed yet, and the winner has 182 days to come forward. Local players also contributed to more than 8,000 smaller Maryland wins in the same drawing.

• Drop In for Free Weekly Acupuncture at Joe's Movement in Mount Rainier (hyattsvillewire.com) — A retired Hyattsville acupuncturist is offering free weekly stress-reduction acupuncture sessions just up the road at Joe's Movement Emporium in Mount Rainier. Every Tuesday from noon to 1:30 p.m., Alaine Duncan and other volunteers treat about two dozen people without appointments. The long-time Route 1 resident says the clinic keeps the community's "heart in rhythm," with donations welcome but not required.
