• Gene's Costumes Reopens Nearly 3 Years After Fire (patch.com) — Longtime favorite Gene's Costumes has reopened on Connecticut Avenue in Kensington nearly three years after an electrical fire caused about $100,000 in damage and forced the shop to close. Owner Ginger Ager spent years salvaging inventory and supporting local theater productions, and now welcomes customers back with expanded hours leading up to Halloween. 
• E-Scooter Driver Suffers Serious Injuries After Kensington Crash: Police (patch.com) — An electric scooter rider suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after a late-night collision at Connecticut and Knowles avenues near the Kensington Shopping Center. Montgomery County Police say the car's driver has been located, and investigators are still working to determine what caused the crash.
