• Afro Plus Fest Returns To The DMV, Headlined By Davido, Alkaline & Wizkid (103weup.com) — A massive three-day Afro Plus Fest is coming to Landover’s Northwest Stadium Complex this Labor Day weekend, expecting up to 40,000 visitors per day and a big boost for Prince George’s County’s economy. With Davido, Alkaline, Wizkid, Lil Baby, Sexyy Red, and a strong lineup of DMV artists, residents can look forward to Afrobeats, dancehall, hip-hop, and local Black-owned food and fashion vendors right in their backyard.

Forty years later, they’re reflecting on how that spontaneous shoot became “Heavy Metal Parking Lot,” a globally influential snapshot of local concert culture and youth.
