'Brad Bell Day' Declared In MoCo As Longtime Journalist Retires
The retiring journalist served as the Maryland bureau chief at local station WJLA for over 35 years. His last day was Thursday.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — County Executive Marc Elrich officially declared Sept. 24 as "Brad Bell Day" this week as news emerged that the longtime journalist was retiring.
Brad Bell served as WJLA's Maryland bureau chief, gracing both TV and phone screens with the latest details on developing news across the region. After just over 35 years with the station, he retired Thursday.
"Brad has earned broad respect through his commitment to fairness, asking tough questions when necessary, listening carefully, and ensuring people had the chance to explain their side," reads Elrich's proclamation.

Bell, who has received multiple Emmy Awards for his work, reported on some of the biggest stories that impacted Maryland, including the Pfisteria contamination and the Freddie Gray murder trial.
Prior to joining WJLA, Bell worked at WMAR between 1986 and 1991. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland.
