MoCo Police Chief Resigns Effective Immediately After IG Findings (patch.com) — Rockville readers are seeing a major shakeup in county law enforcement leadership as Montgomery County Police Chief Marc Yamada resigns immediately following an inspector general investigation. The report found policy violations involving time away from work, use of county resources, and inaccurate statements to investigators, prompting County Executive Marc Elrich to appoint Assistant Chief Darren Francke as acting chief while reforms and recommended policy changes move forward.

MoCo Police Arrest Gaithersburg Man Wanted For Deadly Rockville Shooting (patch.com) — Rockville residents are learning that a Gaithersburg man wanted in a deadly shooting outside Quincy's Potomac Bar & Grille near Seven Locks Road has been arrested without incident. Police say 21-year-old Shayan Solimani Damabi faces first-degree murder and firearm charges in the killing of 33-year-old Nicholas Njuki, as the victim's family turns to community support for funeral costs.
   

3. MoCo Worker Hospitalized After Arm Becomes Trapped Inside Industrial Mixer (patch.com) — Emergency crews rushed to an Omega 3 Nutrition shop on East Gude Drive in Rockville after a worker's arm became trapped in an industrial mixer, prompting a medevac response. Montgomery College's Rockville campus was designated as a helicopter landing site and nearby roads were temporarily closed by Rockville City Police while rescuers freed and transported the injured employee.
   

4. Developer Pays $7M For Planned Old Town Conversion: The D.C. Deal Sheet (bisnow.com) — Rockville will see a vacant office site at 7500 Standish Place replaced with a new 95,000-square-foot flex warehouse, now under construction and slated for completion in late 2027. The project, featuring modern truck access and 32-foot clear heights, could bring new industrial and logistics activity to the city, with JLL handling leasing and McCloud Builders as general contractor.
