Local fans watched the Shamrocks manage only -7 yards of offense despite a late field-goal chance, while Shawsheen's relentless defense and key runs closed out the clock at McGrath Stadium.
   

• Bristol Community College to host open house event (heraldnews.com) — Bristol Community College, which operates a campus in Attleboro, is inviting prospective students to a free open house at its Fall River campus on Oct. 24, with tours and help on admissions and financial aid.
