• TechAMP Helps Manufacturing Workers Take the Next Step (uml.edu) — A Beverly-based manufacturer, Harmonic Drive, is benefiting from a new UMass Lowell training program that helped one worker redesign a process projected to save the company more than $250,000. The yearlong TechAMP certificate lets employees like Joe Hegarty and others upgrade their skills while working, and may soon offer transferable college credits for those pursuing engineering degrees.
   

• Massachusetts Fire Departments Achieve Nation's Fourth-Highest Emergency Response Reporting Rate (hollistonreporter.com) — Beverly's fire department is among the early adopters of a new national emergency response reporting system that helped Massachusetts reach the fourth-highest reporting rate in the country. The NERIS platform gives near-real-time data to guide funding, staffing, and safety decisions, replacing older systems that took months to produce reliable statistics.
