Man Arrested With Loaded Gun After Boston Dominican Festival
The gun was loaded with 17 rounds of ammunition.
BOSTON, MA — A man is facing multiple charges after Boston Police recovered a loaded handgun while patrolling the area following the conclusion of the Dominican Festival.
Jamai Ellis, 20, of Dorchester, was arrested at approximately 11:58 p.m. near Glenway Street and Old Road after officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force, Boston Housing Authority, and Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit saw him change direction and begin walking away upon seeing police.
Officers reportedly saw Ellis wearing a crossbody bag that he attempted to conceal while repeatedly manipulating an item inside, police said. Officers approached Ellis and frisked the bag, where they allegedly recovered a firearm.

The firearm was determined to be a Century Arms Canik TP9 9mm handgun loaded with 17 rounds of ammunition.
Ellis was taken into custody and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large-capacity firearm, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
