Loaded Gun Recovered From 17-Year-Old After Foot Pursuit In Boston (patch.com) — Boston residents near the Fairmount Development may notice an increased police presence after officers chased down a 17-year-old on Dana Avenue and recovered a loaded .40-caliber handgun from his backpack. The teen, arrested Wednesday evening by the Youth Violence Strike Force, now faces multiple delinquency firearm and ammunition charges and is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
   

2. 2 Apprehended After Man Shot In Boston (patch.com) — People traveling through Roxbury's Nubian Square area may have seen a heavy police response Wednesday night after a man was shot in the leg near Dudley and Washington streets. Two suspects fleeing on a scooter were quickly apprehended, a firearm was recovered, and Boston police say the investigation into the non-life-threatening shooting injuries is ongoing.
   

3. Boston Police Looking To Identify Person Possibly Connected To Stabbing (patch.com) — Boston police are asking for the public's help identifying a person believed to be involved in a stabbing early Sunday on Burnett Street in Jamaica Plain. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening wound, and detectives from District E-13 are continuing to investigate while urging residents to share any tips through phone, text, or the CrimeStoppers website.
   

4. Only one Boston restaurant made the New York Times' 50 Best Restaurants of 2026 list (bostonuncovered.com) — South Boston's new Spanish-inspired restaurant Dalia has been named one of The New York Times' 50 Best Restaurants of 2026, the only Massachusetts spot to make the list. Since opening this spring, it's become a lively neighborhood favorite, and locals can find it right on West Broadway for shareable plates and a greenhouse-style dining room.
   

5. Boston cans reparations report after lead researcher's academic integrity comes under fire (bostonherald.com) — Boston has canceled its contracted reparations history report with Tufts University, reclaimed the $335,000 payment, and plans to redirect the funds to other priorities of the city's Task Force on Reparations. While the early-slavery volume is scrapped after concerns about the lead researcher, a separate Northeastern University report covering 1940–2020 is still moving forward for release soon.
