Man held on bail in same Brockton courthouse he is accused of vandalizing (fallriverreporter.com) — Brockton residents may notice extra attention around the district courthouse after a 62-year-old Washington man allegedly spray-painted "LIVES HARMED HERE" on the Main Street building, then called police on himself. He pleaded not guilty to vandalism, is held on $5,000 bail, and has been ordered to undergo a full evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital.
   

2. 9 Massachusetts Areas Where Black Bears Have Wandered Into View This Summer (takingthekids.com) — Brockton residents saw part of D.W. Field Park temporarily coned off this summer after a wandering black bear was spotted on the Brockton side and nearby DeMarco Park. Officials urged neighbors to secure trash and bird feeders, while reminding everyone that the park's ponds, woods, and parkway remain a close-to-downtown escape once the bear moves on.
   

3. 'Work of art' Brockton restaurant space hits market for $1.1M (enterprisenews.com) — A well-known Cape Verdean restaurant space on Main Street in Brockton, Porton di Nôs Ilha, has ended regular dining and its fully built‑out venue is now for sale for $1.1 million. The listing includes the building plus restaurant, liquor and entertainment licenses, and much of the custom cultural artwork and design that made the space a community showpiece may remain for whoever takes it over next.
