Greet Halloween with delightfully spooky poems and stories by two American masters, Emily Dickinson and Edgar Allan Poe. The recital features gruesome poems in a pounding cadence by Poe, his sinister short story The Tell-Tale Heart, and quietly haunting, eerie and elusive works by Dickinson. Useful explanations help you understand, appreciate and enjoy each of the time-honored works. Creepy props enhance the Halloween atmosphere. The program includes summaries of the lives of the two celebrated poets, Dickinson and Poe. The recital is presented by Jeffrey Zygmont, poet, author, and publisher.Click here to register.

Forgotten Harvest, we will explore native plants as well as useful plants brought to New England from Europe—plants once valued for food, medicine, and everyday life whose traditional uses have largely faded from common knowledge. Many still grow abundantly around our homes, gardens, fields, and roadsides today, but we now know them by another name: weeds.

Forgotten Harvest: The Edible & Medicinal Plants We Call Weeds

Rooted in soul and steeped in rock ‘n’ roll, Reckoners is a Boston-based band built from some of the region’s most respected and road-tested musicians.
Fronted by singer and guitarist Tim Gearan, the group features guitarist and band leader Johnny Trama (Bettye LaVette, The Silks, Dub Apocalypse), drummer Tom Arey (Peter Wolf, The J. Geils Band, G. Love, Vapors of Morphine) bassist Marc Hickox (Bettye LaVette, Charlie Musselwhite), and keyboardist Darby Wolf (Bettye LaVette, Rubblebucket). Together, they channel the grit and groove of classic soul and rock into something timeless and deeply personal.
Their self-produced debut album — now streaming on all major platforms — has drawn more than 43,000 monthly listeners and features the standout single “Looking for a Reason” with guest vocals by Susan Tedeschi.
Reckoners have been building momentum across New England with sold-out headline shows and support slots alongside artists including Tedeschi Trucks Band, The Wallflowers, and Bonnie Raitt. Their music and live performances were recently spotlighted in Relix Magazine.
