Village Green Historical Walking Tour – at Museums on the Green

The Falmouth Historical Society and the Falmouth Garden Club are pleased to provide the opportunity to tour the spectacular gardens at the Museums on the Green this summer! Take a walking tour of each of the five gardens in this beautiful location led by Falmouth Garden Club members.
Tours on Tuesday or Saturday at 11am, allowing time to visit the buildings.
The tour will last about 40 minutes. The dates are as follows:

Tour the Gardens at the Museums on the Green this Summer

Join author Lesley Mahoney O’Connell for a talk on Tuesday, August 4 at 4 p.m. Free and open to all. She will discuss her recently published collection, <a href="https://www.lesleymahoneyoconnell.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Ripple Effects: And Other Stories</a>. Part of the Library’s Community Voices series.
Ripple Effects features mostly quiet but intelligent characters who see themselves as outsiders in their own worlds. O’Connell lets readers listen as they work their way toward decisions they can somehow live with. Some swim through currents of parental self-centeredness; others, lacking ordinary filters, dream impossible dreams as they ignore career crises and marital ennui. O’Connell is especially good at exploring the interior lives, the caves and cliffs carved by deep losses, creating empathy and often a sense of peace in readers.
Lesley Mahoney O’Connell lives on the South Shore of Massachusetts with her husband and son. Her fiction has appeared in Post Road, Psychopomp, and Solstice. She co-ran a reading series in Jamaica Plain, MA, and regularly takes classes at Boston’s GrubStreet and Provincetown’s Fine Arts Work Center. We’ve finally got our time machine working in Falmouth Public Library’s Young Adult Room! Time machines are sort of tough so we have to start small. We’ve made it back to the 80s…in video game land! All of a sudden an original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), a Super Nintendo (SNES), a Nintendo 64 (N64), a Nintendo Game Cube AND a Sega Genesis have been recovered. There are rumors of an original Wii console as well.
Every week in Falmouth Public Library’s Main Branch’s Young Adult room, we will be stepping into the past of Nintendo and Sega. The time warp shall begin on August 5, 2026 and continue every Wednesday from 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM. It is an open event for all ages. All are welcome and you can show up and leave at any point that you like. Some of the video games that await us are the original Mario Brothers, Super Smash Brothers, Mario Kart, Castlevania, Donkey Kong, and much much more! Come and see for yourself.
Remember, it’s for all ages so please, come defeat your kids or younger family and friends! It is time for us older folk to show the next generations where all their dream video games started. 
There is no registration required for participation! All ages, drop-in, drop-out! All games are rated “PG”. Clint, the Young Adult Librarian will be present to ensure a fun, collaborative, and safe time! If you have any of your own video games, feel free to bring them in for all to enjoy!

a tale of love, hope, and faith in ourselves and each other, from Thursday, August 6 through Sunday, August 9. A surprise hit of the 2025 summer season for the Sandwich Arts Alliance, The Rainmaker brings a unique blend of humor and insight into the human heart to Hyannis Arts Hall, an emerging hub for music, theater, and film in the historic East End of Hyannis, behind the Federated Church of Hyannis, at 81 Willow Avenue 
“A tale of love, a tale of hope, a tale of faith - in ourselves and in each other. At a time of paralyzing drought in the West, where ‘the only thing we have to fear is fear itself,’ we discover Lizzie, a girl whose father and two brothers are worried as much about her becoming an old maid as they are about their dying cattle — when out of nowhere appears an unexpected visitor. Hyannis Arts Hall presents New England talk radio legend and New York Times best-selling author Howie Carr, on stage Sunday, August 16 from 4 to 5:30 pm. Carr, host of the largest syndicated talk radio show in New England, will bring his unmistakable blend of outspoken passion and confrontational conservative politics to the Hyannis Arts Hall. The hall continues as an emerging hub for music, theater and film in the Historic East End of Hyannis, located at 81 Willow Avenue, across from the former Plymouth &amp; Brockton bus terminal.

Sea Stars Early Learning Center offers a balanced program that incorporates play-based learning, structured lessons, and physical activities. Children are encouraged to explore their interests, whether through music, art, science, or outdoor exploration. There’s a focus on developmental milestones, including fine motor skills, communication, and social interaction. The facility focuses on helping children develop strong social skills through group activities, games, and cooperative learning. There’s an emphasis on emotional intelligence, teaching kids how to manage their feelings and resolve conflicts peacefully. Our amazing helps kids learn to share, collaborate, and support one another, fostering a sense of community. The facility embraces children from all backgrounds and is sensitive to cultural differences, making sure all children feel accepted and valued. The facility features a large, secure outdoor play area with age-appropriate equipment. Children spend plenty of time outdoors, engaging in physical play and exploring nature. There may also be gardening activities. The building is designed with child safety in mind, featuring soft corners, non-toxic materials, and secure fencing around outdoor areas. Access points are monitored and locked to ensure only authorized individuals can enter. There’s a first aid kit and trained staff on hand at all times to handle any emergencies. The classrooms and play areas are spotless, with an abundance of natural light streaming in through large windows. The space is well-organized, with age-appropriate toys, books, and learning materials accessible to children. There’s a cozy reading nook, art stations, and sensory play areas where kids can explore their creativity. Our staff is certified in child development, first aid, and CPR, but they also have a genuine passion for working with children. Melissa Anderson and Leigh-Ellen Ferreira are two Falmouth natives who have spent many years working with children.
