• Additional West Nile Virus-Positive Mosquito Sample Detected in Falmouth (einpresswire.com) — Falmouth residents are being urged to step up mosquito precautions after another West Nile virus–positive mosquito sample was found near Woods Hole Road, with risk remaining high through September. County officials and the Cape Cod Mosquito Control Project are treating breeding areas, but they're also asking locals to dump standing water, use EPA-registered repellents, and limit dusk-to-dawn exposure.
   

• SSA mulls over way to decrease budget (mvtimes.com) — Steamship Authority budget pressures and proposed increases to embarkation and excursion fares could eventually affect what Falmouth travelers pay to reach Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Oak Bluffs is pushing for higher embarkation fees, legislators are weighing changes, and SSA leaders are analyzing discounts, fuel costs, and tariffs as they work to close a growing revenue gap.
   

• Steamship Authority Reviews Two Service Expansion Requests for Martha's Vineyard (wror.com) — Proposed year‑round Seastreak ferry service between New Bedford and Vineyard Haven could benefit Falmouth‑area commuters, including those tied to Falmouth Academy and WHOI, by linking more smoothly with new rail service. The Steamship Authority is also weighing a Vineyard freight route, improving Oak Bluffs docking, and fine‑tuning its reservation system, all of which shape how reliably locals can reach Martha's Vineyard.
