The committee also accepted major donations for local schools and approved more inclusive student handbook language, including a looser dress code that leaves hats and bandanas to parents' discretion.

• Nor'easter Winds Down After Battering South Shore (959watd.com) — Kingston was among many South Shore communities that lost power during this weekend's nor'easter, which brought about six inches of rain and wind gusts over 50 mph to the region. While most outages were restored by Sunday night and major flooding was avoided, some nearby coastal areas saw seawall and home damage from pounding surf and debris-covered streets.
