Project Bread taps in-house storyteller Nora Jerrett to help lead its communications strategy (lynnjournal.com) — A Medford resident, Nora Jerrett, has been promoted to Assistant Director of Communications at Project Bread, the statewide food security nonprofit behind The Walk for Hunger and Summer Eats. Her work connects Massachusetts residents with SNAP help and the FoodSource Hotline, and she'll now help lead communications around policy, advocacy, and direct food assistance programs that Medford families can access.
   

2. No. 1 Men's Soccer Kicks Off 2026 With 2-0 NESCAC Victory Over Trinity (Conn.) (gotuftsjumbos.com) — Tufts University's top-ranked men's soccer team opened their season in Medford with a confident 2–0 NESCAC win over Trinity, controlling possession and limiting shots on goal. Local fans can now look ahead to the Jumbos' next conference matchup at Wesleyan on September 9 as they try to build on this strong start.
   

3. Healey-Driscoll Administration Expands Joint Active Shooter Response Training Statewide (hollistonreporter.com) — Medford Fire personnel joined more than a thousand first responders statewide in intensive active shooter response training hosted at Tufts University, sharpening coordination between police, fire, and EMS. This expanded program aims to ensure Medford crews can act quickly and seamlessly with neighboring departments during a crisis, building on Massachusetts' nationally recognized standards for handling hostile events.
   

4. Antonio (Tony) Politano, 84 (thequincysun.com) — Medford readers may recognize the Politano family, as Antonio (Tony) Politano's brother Vittorio lives in Medford while Tony himself spent nearly sixty years in Quincy. The 84-year-old Italian-born barber, builder, and property owner is remembered as generous, hardworking, and devoted to his large extended family, with visiting hours and funeral services scheduled in Quincy next week.
