Water & Sewer (medfordma.org) — Medford's Water and Sewer Division maintains about 120 miles each of water and sewer lines, plus hydrants, meters, valves and a Doonan Street pumping station that residents rely on daily. The city's MWRA-regulated water comes from the Quabbin Reservoir, and crews handle flushing, leak detection, meter replacement and inspections to keep neighborhood service safe and reliable.
   

2. 'TUPIT matters': Students maintain community as future of TUPIT remains unclear (tuftsdaily.com) — Tufts students in Medford are grappling with the suspension of the in‑person MyTERN reentry program, which brought formerly incarcerated learners onto campus and built a tight-knit community. Student organizers, faculty, and MyTERN graduates are holding speak-outs, writing letters, and meeting with administrators as an independent review proceeds, hoping to preserve space and support for this prison education initiative's future.
   

3. Medford Provides Update on Police Chief Transition (thesomervillenewsweekly.blog) — Medford is reshuffling police leadership ahead of Chief Jack Buckley's December 19 retirement, promoting longtime Captain Paul Covino to temporary deputy chief to help manage the transition. The city will stop accepting applications for the next police chief on September 28, then move into background checks and interviews with an upcoming community-focused interview panel.
   

4. (Photos) Xavi Simons pays surprise visit to Boston Spurs OSC as 23-year-old connects with American supporters during training camp (yardbarker.com) — Soccer fans at a Medford bar got an unexpected thrill when injured Dutch star Xavi Simons dropped in to watch Tottenham's early-morning match during his rehab stay in the U.S. His low-key visit to the Boston Spurs' home base turned a routine viewing party into a memorable connection between a European pro and devoted local supporters.
