Join the <a href="https://www.ciabeachbluff.org" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Clifton Improvement Association</a> and the <a href="https://www.nsaac.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club</a> to explore the sky above Beach Bluff Park &amp; Preston Beach. This event is open to guests of all ages.

Event cost: $25 per carPre-registration preferred. Cash or Venmo will also be accepted on-site.

North Shore audiences pack the house for Miranda Russell and her extraordinary 6 piece band. A powerful and moving vocalist, Miranda's performance centers on nuanced treatments of an eclectic range of favorites from Cole Porter to Richard Thompson. Critics have routinely praised her dynamic interpretation and delivery of the American Songbook as well as her mastery of contemporary songwriters like Paul Simon and Gillian Welch.

Miranda is considered by critics, audiences, and her fellow musicians to be a moving vocalist and nuance performer, and her concerts center on interpretations of the great songwriters of our day. Her versatility with the works of such luminaries as Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell and Richard Thompson have become the hallmark of her performances, as well as her haunting rendition of Edith Piaf's La Vie en Rose.

Miranda studied theater at Emerson College in Boston and classical voice performance at Loyola University New Orleans' College of Music. She has performed in various European countries, and closer to home has enjoyed performing in many seasons at Gloucester Stage Company as well as several theaters in the New England area. She enjoyed five successive years of sold-out two-night stints at the Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport, and played to a packed house for several years here at the Larcom Theatre. &nbsp;
Miranda has recorded three albums, including the award-winning lullaby collection All the Pretty Little Horses, and the live double CD Embrace: Live in Rockport, and most recently a compilation of live cuts of audience favorites. She and her husband have two adult children and live in nearby Ipswich, MA where they own and operate Russell Orchards, a 120-acre fruit farm with bakery, winery, and busy retail store.&nbsp;

Ian is a kind, generous soul who has always shown up for others. Whether it’s supporting friends, family, or community members, Ian gives selflessly.From working extensively in retail - wearing many hats as recruiter, trainer, mentor, educator, visual merchandiser, leader, sales coach, and more - to jewelry design, Ian loves meeting people and interacting with them on a daily basis. In fact, creating new relationships has always been one of his most personal enjoyments in life.He campaigned for city council in Salem due to his continued desires to be an active and productive member of the community - again, focusing on helping others.To that end, Ian has volunteered at his local church, for Over the Rainbow Social club (assisting in social events and more for LGBT+ seniors and allies/caregivers), and been part of other LGBT and other charitable organizations.

The 18th annual Salem Arts Festival returns June 5-7, 2026, as a special "Salem 400+" edition celebrating four centuries of Salem's creative heritage. This free, family-friendly event transforms historic downtown Salem into an immersive artistic experience, attracting over 10,000 visitors annually.
What to Expect
Explore a juried visual arts gallery at Old Town Hall featuring 60+ works by regional artists competing for Best in Show and the John Boris Memorial Award. Browse a curated artisan marketplace across downtown Salem on Saturday and Sunday, with local makers offering ceramics, jewelry, textiles, woodworking, prints, and more.
Experience live performances across multiple outdoor stages throughout the weekend, including music spanning folk to hip hop, dance from flamenco to contemporary, circus arts, poetry, and more. Watch 12 talented muralists transform blank canvases into vibrant 8'×4' artworks during the Mural Slam at Artists' Row, then vote for your favorite via QR code to determine the People's Choice winner.

The festival spans downtown Salem's most beloved spaces: Old Town Hall, Derby Square, Artists' Row, Armory Park, the Pedestrian Mall, and areas near the Peabody Essex Museum. Essex Street and Front Street close to vehicles Saturday and Sunday (8 AM-7 PM), creating pedestrian-friendly festival zones.
Free admission to all events and activities. Bathrooms are available at Artists' Row, the NPS Visitor Center, and Destination Salem. Rain contingency plans ensure performances continue regardless of the weather.

The Police Academy tribute band is one of the few younger acts in the tribute scene, bringing the energy, style, and sound of Sting and The Police at the height of their career. For over 50 years Black Uhuru has remained one of the most popular recognized prolific reggae band from Jamaica. The living legends have earned several achievements in the music industry including winning the first ever Grammy Award for reggae music. They’re long success along with having the highest reggae record sales after Bob Marley &amp; the most songs sampled by other artist over the years has allowed them to become Ambassadors of reggae.The roots of Black Uhuru formed in Kingston’s “Waterhouse” District in the late 60’s. It is the home of founder &amp; leader Derrick “Duckie” Simpson along with all the rest of the singers from the group. The original Uhuru’s Swahili for “freedom” were Duckie, Don Carlos &amp; Garth Dennis. The first song was a Curtis Mayfield cover of “Folk Song”. They made only a couple more songs before Don left to pursue a solo career &amp; Garth joined Wailing Souls. The two were replaced by Michael Rose &amp; Errol Nelson both from Waterhouse. They recorded the debut album “Love Crises” in 1977 for Prince Jammy later re-released as “Black Sounds of Freedom”. Errol later left the group to join the Jays &amp; was replaced by female singer Puma Jones.This new line-up is when the band began to collaborate with Sly &amp; Robbie &amp; developed the “classic Uhuru” sound of the 80’s. A unique style full of heavy drum &amp; bass, sharp keys, loud guitar riffs &amp; long instrumentals filled with whirly background effects &amp; the signature “wow oh-oh oh’s” echo. It was during this period they signed with Island Records. They began touring internationally &amp; started receiving worldwide attention. They recorded some of their most popular albums like “Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner” “Sensimelia” &amp; “Chill Out”. The album “Red” was voted #23 for Rolling Stone Magazine list of 100 greatest albums of the 80’s. And history was made when they won reggae’s first grammy award in 1984 for the album “Anthem”. Shortly after the grammy Michael left the group to go solo.Another Waterhouse resident named Junior Reid became the new lead singer. Two albums were released “Brutal” nominated for grammy &amp; “Positive” with Ras Records. These albums included popular hits like “Dreadlocks on the Mountain” “Fit You Haffi Fit” &amp; one of the groups first music videos “Great Train Robbery”. Sadly due to ill health Puma passed away in 1990. Around this time Jr. Reid was having visa issues unable to tour.During the mid 90’s the original members reunited. Four albums were released “Now”, “Iron”, Storm”, “Mystical Truth” &amp; “Strongg” all nominated for grammy. They made an award-winning music video for “Tip of the Iceberg” that featured rap star Ice-T &amp; another video for “One Love” featuring Louie Rankin. They performed live on television for VH1 a cover version of Jimmy Hendrix “Hey Joe”. In 1994 they won the Diamonds Awards for Excellence. Unfortunately, the group began to dispute over band legal rights &amp; went to court in the late 90’s. Duckie won the rights to the name.
