Peabody Launches Senior Property Tax Work-Off Program For FY2027 (patch.com) — Peabody seniors who own and live in their homes can now apply to work off up to $1,500 from their FY2027 property tax bill by completing 100 hours of service in city departments. With applications open through Nov. 15 and capped at 75 participants, the program offers both financial relief and a way for older residents to stay active in Peabody community life.

Peabody Supporters, Gene-Editing Researcher To Be Honored At Progeria Research Gala (patch.com) — Peabody residents Cathy and Dave Gravel, founders of local IT firm GraVoc, will be honored alongside gene-editing pioneer David R. Liu at the Progeria Research Foundation's 2026 Night of Wonder Gala in Boston. Their decades of support, including Peabody-based events and special experiences for children with Progeria, underscore how local advocates are helping advance promising gene-editing treatments for this rare disease.
   

3. City receives $33,700 from Mass Cultural Council (peabodyweeklynews.com) — Peabody has secured a $33,700 grant from the Mass Cultural Council to support local cultural projects, from concerts and theater to classes and school enrichment. The city is now accepting applications through Oct. 15 for 2027 projects, giving residents, artists, and organizations a chance to fund new programs that expand access to arts and culture across Peabody's neighborhoods.
   

4. Main Street coffee shop reopens (peabodyweeklynews.com) — Coffee lovers in Peabody can once again gather at 67 Main Street, where Downtown Grounds has reopened the former Breaking Grounds space with the same inclusive spirit and many favorite menu items. Owned by Councilor-at-Large Jaclyn Corriveau, the café partners with nonprofits to offer job training for adults with disabilities and features a custom house blend from Peabody-based Capito Coffee at Mills 58.
   

5. No one injured after driver crashes SUV into front of Peabody nail salon (wcvb.com) — A driver in her 80s accidentally drove an SUV through the front window of Starlight Hair and Nail Spa in Peabody on Tuesday morning, but no one was hurt. Staff and nearby workers helped the shaken but uninjured woman climb out through the passenger side, and the salon manager says she still plans to keep appointments despite the damage.
