Beverly Beach 5K Back For 18th Year At Dane Street Beach

SALEM, MA — More than 400 runners are expected to race along the shores of Dane Street Beach in Beverly as the 18th Run for the Beach 5K returns to benefit Salem Sound Coastwatch's efforts.

The event on June 14 will bring together runners, walkers, local businesses, and community members to support the protection and restoration of the Salem Sound watershed.

Proceeds from the event support Salem Sound Coastwatch programs, including water quality monitoring, marine conservation efforts, coastal resilience initiatives and environmental education programs that reach nearly 5,000 students each year.

The race also spotlights environmental pressures facing coastal communities across the North Shore, including stormwater pollution, flooding and climate change.

"Run for the Beach is such a fun and meaningful community event because it brings people together around something we all care deeply about: protecting our coastline and watershed," said Gitte Venicx, Executive Director at Salem Sound Coastwatch. "Whether you’re running, walking, pushing a stroller, or cheering from the sidelines, it's a great way to support local environmental work and celebrate all six towns in the Salem Sound community."

Race day activities are set to include the coastal 5K course starting at Dane Street Beach, family-friendly activities and environmental education booths.

Organizers also plan to bring SALT, the life-size inflatable whale from Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, along with a touch tank featuring local marine animals, plus music, refreshments and post-race celebrations.

Registration opens at 8 a.m., with the race scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

Advance registration costs $40 and includes a race T-shirt for participants registered by May 31.

Same-day registration will also be available.
