MA Pizzeria Lands On Nationwide List Of Best Pizza Shops

SOMERVILLE, MA — A pizza restaurant has landed on a nationwide list of award-winning pizza shops.

Posto, located at 400 Assembly Row, was selected to represent Massachusetts on Food & Wine’s list of award-winning pizzerias across the country. The outlet considered recognition from pizza competitions, national rankings, local journalists and reader votes when making its selections.

The restaurant ranked No. 35 on 50 Top Pizza USA’s 2026 list, marking its fifth consecutive year on the list.

Colombian-born executive chef Juan Gabriel Pérez joined Posto in 2010. Known by his Instagram handle “JuangPizza,” Pérez has also been recognized among the world’s top 75 pizza chefs for four consecutive years by The Best Pizza Awards.

Pérez ranked No. 54 worldwide in 2025, following placements of No. 60 in 2024 and No. 54 in 2023, as previously reported by Patch.

Posto specializes in Neapolitan-style pizza cooked in a custom Italian oven at temperatures exceeding 850 degrees. The restaurant imports its “00” flour and San Marzano tomatoes from Italy and makes its own “Fiore di Latte” mozzarella fresh daily, according to its website.

The menu includes traditional options such as Margherita and pepperoni alongside specialty pies. The Almondine features toasted almonds, ricotta, mozzarella, fontina, and chili-infused honey, while the Apple pizza includes fire-roasted apple, caramelized onion, fontina, gorgonzola, arugula, and vincotto.

Beyond pizza, the restaurant serves appetizers, salads, handmade pasta, meat and seafood dishes. Posto says it works with local farmers and artisans whenever possible.
