Mbah announces he will resign effective December 31, 2026, after winning the Democratic primary for State Representative in the 34th Middlesex District. Under the city charter, Marianne Walles, the fifth-highest at-large vote-getter, will automatically assume his council seat, ensuring continued representation for Somerville residents while Mbah transitions to the State House.
