Swampscott Library Struggles to Fill Part-Time Youth Services, Maker Space Librarian Role (swampscotttides.org) — Swampscott's public library is still struggling to hire a part-time youth services and Maker Space librarian after three strong candidates declined the job, leaving key days like Mondays and Fridays understaffed. With longtime children's librarian Israela Abrams retired, Director Jonathan Nichols is even exploring whether a full-time role could fit the budget, and invites qualified residents with an MLS to apply via the town's HR email.
   

4. E.F. Gilmore Treasurer Receives Honor from Seth Moulton (swampscotttides.org) — A local veterans' advocate from the E.F. Gilmore 64 post has been honored with Rep. Seth Moulton's Peter J. Gomes Service Award for her work connecting veterans to housing, food, and support across the 6th District, which includes Swampscott. Her efforts focus on outreach, building community, and helping veterans navigate benefits so fewer fall through the cracks.
   

5. He Was 15 When He Was Found Murdered In The Woods, And A Baseball Bat With Unique Markings Could Be The Key To Solving His Case (chipchick.com) — Swampscott residents are being reminded of the still-unsolved 1974 murder of 15-year-old Henry Bedard, whose body was found in local woods alongside a baseball bat with distinctive carvings and burn marks. Police hope modern DNA testing and fresh tips about the bat's origins will finally break the case, and they're asking anyone with information to contact Swampscott Police.
